QR Code for Google Reviews: how it works

Customers who say "I'd happily leave a review" rarely do, because finding your business on Google and locating the Write a review button takes six taps they forget by the car. A QR code that opens the review form directly removes every step except the stars. Businesses that put one at the till, on the invoice or on a table card see a steady increase in reviews within weeks.

QRForge makes the code free in your browser. Paste your review link, pick your colours and download a PNG for print.

Finding your Google review link

You need the link that opens the review dialog, not your general Maps listing. To get it:

  1. Sign in to your Google Business Profile (search your business name on Google while logged in as the owner, or go to business.google.com).
  2. Open the profile, choose Ask for reviews (sometimes shown as "Get more reviews").
  3. Copy the short link, which looks like g.page/r/XXXXXXXX/review.

Paste that into the URL tab of QRForge with https:// in front. Scan the preview and confirm it opens the review box with your business name and five empty stars. If it opens the Maps listing instead, you copied the listing URL, not the review link.

Do not use a Google Maps link with a search query; those break when Google changes its URL format, whereas the g.page review link is stable.

Where to place it and what Google allows

The best moment to ask is right after a good experience: the counter, the receipt, the thank-you card in a delivery box, the back of a service van invoice, the mirror at a salon station. Add a caption such as "Enjoyed your visit? Scan to leave a Google review – it takes 30 seconds".

Two rules keep your listing safe. Google's policy prohibits offering money, discounts or gifts in exchange for reviews, and it prohibits "review gating" (asking happy customers only). A code that everyone can scan is fine; a code hidden until someone says something nice is not. Keep the code at 3 cm or more for counter cards and use high-contrast colours; your brand colour on white is fine, light grey on white is not.

Frequently asked questions

Does the QR code work if the customer isn't logged in to Google?

The link opens the review form; if they are not signed in, Google asks them to sign in first and then returns them to the review. Most phones are already signed in.

Will the review link change?

The g.page review link stays the same for your Business Profile unless you create a new listing. Avoid longer Maps URLs, which Google reformats from time to time.

Can I offer a discount for scanning?

You can thank customers, but Google's policy forbids rewarding reviews with discounts or gifts. Violations can get reviews removed or the profile suspended.

Can I put my logo on the review QR code?

Yes. The logo overlay is part of the one-time Pro upgrade. Error correction is raised to H automatically so the code scans reliably with the logo in place.
